Bob Ney to be Honored at the Independent Steelworkers Union

Weirton, WV  -- Ohio Congressman Bob Ney(R) will be honored Friday afternoon by the Independent Steelworkers Union for his work in the "Stand Up For Steel" campaign.

The two term Republican will be honored at the I.S.U. Hall in Weirton, West Virginia.  A news conference will be held following the ceremony at 4:00 p.m.

According to Mark Glyptis, I.S.U. President, "Bob Ney played a crucial role earlier this year in the House of Representatives when the Quota bill was up for a vote."

Glyptis said Ney opposed his Republican Party Leadership in the House and helped lead the fight to pass the Quota bill.

'Here is a relatively young Congressman taking on his own leadership in order to stand up for his constituents affected by the illegal dumping of foreign steel.  He displayed true leadership," Glyptis remarked.

The I.S.U. leadership recently bestowed honors on West Virginia Senator Robert C. Byrd and West Virginia Congressman Alan Mollohan for their role in the fight against foreign steel imports.

"Bob Ney has been with us from the very beginning of this fight and we believe Bob Ney will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the I.S.U. in the battle to preserve American steel jobs," Glyptis said.

Ney has continued to support tough legislation aimed at stopping illegal steel imports.
